This Or That: Book Tag
The other day, when exploring the book blogging community and looking for new blogs to read, I found a post by BostonBookReader where she completed the ‘This Or That’ book tag which was created by Ayundabhuwana’s Blog.
I still felt rather apprehensive about feeling as if I had the right to complete and post the tag myself since I hadn’t been tagged in it by any other bloggers (which goes to show that I need to interact with the community further so please don’t be afraid to send me a message or a friend request on GoodReads). However, at the end of her post, Kris stated that she was tagging anyone who hadn’t get done the tag, so that gave me the final push to once again just put myself out there and do it anyway.
Therefore, without further ado, here are my own answers to the ‘This Or That’ book tag.
1. Reading on the bed or on the couch?
I used to be all about reading in bed, but now I read on the couch and at the breakfast bar/island too most of the time. I read everywhere but, out of the two, I definitely still think reading in bed is my general preference.
2. Male main character or female main character?
Both are great! I really enjoy different narratives and perspectives. Though, lately, I’ve been finding myself reading quite a few books with female main characters.
3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks when you’re reading?
Sweet, I think. Though it depends on mood, of course, but sweet snacks as of late and of a general preference.
4. Trilogies or quartets?
I’d say I prefer trilogies. They feel more ‘rounded’ and completed if that makes any sense at all.
5. First person point of view or third person point of view?
I don’t have a definite preference for this one, either (is this tag showing how indecisive I am?). Though I’ll say first person as I feel it more so brings the story to life and puts you into the mind of the character which lets you get closer to them.
6. Reading at night or in the morning?
I read at any time but night is my preference. For some reason, I feel as if I can read ‘better’ at night. I don’t know, maybe it’s a night owl thing?
7. Libraries or bookstores?
Bookstores, without a doubt. The new book smell is enough to tip the scales between the two.
8. Books that make you laugh or cry?
Both – again, depends on my mood. Though, in general, I lean towards books that make me laugh.
9. Black book covers or white book covers?
I’d say I probably have a preference for black book overs though I like both. Really depends on the overall design.
10. Character driven or plot driven?
Both are great and vital for a good story, but I’d go with character driven. I love experiencing and witnessing character development and insight as to who exactly is involved with the story. Even if a book has a great plot, sometimes that’s ruined by having underdeveloped or uninteresting characters, so I think being character driven is preferable. I want to get to know who I am reading about! Sometimes plot alone isn’t enough.
Once again, it’s been really fun to answer these questions myself and take part in this book tag, so thank you to BostonBookReader for tagging everybody and anybody in it! Still trying to get to grips with fitting into the community and becoming an active part of it, so please bear with me.
I’m not going to necessarily tag anybody to continue the tag itself – if you’re reading this and want to partake like I did, then I tag you. Make sure to link me to your post if you do happen to do it yourself so that I can see your answers! Or just let me know your own personal preferences if you don’t feel like writing up a whole post about it.
Thanks for reading my answers to this book tag and I’ll write you later.
